Young Nordic Stars

Young Nordic Stars is a brand new project, which has leaped from the now completed pilot project, PLAY!GROUND LIVE NORDIC, from 2017.

In Young Nordic Stars, the desire to further expand the accumulated experiences gained from not only the unique Nordic band, but also from Swinging Europe’s more than 17-year-old talent development concept, PLAY!GROUND LIVE.

PLAY!GROUND LIVE NORDIC is a completed pilot project, developed in collaboration between the Music Institute Legato (FIN), Korsholm Music Institute (FIN), National Association of Young Musicians (SWE) and Swinging Europe (DK), which took place from October 2016 to June 2019. Based on the experiences from this previous project, the new and further developed version of the project entitled Young Nordic Stars will start in January 2019 and last until September 2020.

Young Nordic Stars will consist of further collaboration with the Legato and Korsholm Music Institute (FIN), the Institute of Music, and the two newly-joined partners, The Children’s Home in Uuummannaq (GL) and the Åland Song and Music Federation. The project originates from a successful national talent development organ, PLAY!GROUND LIVE, developed through many years of cooperation between Swinging Europe and artistic director Bo Stief.

Every year since 2001, Swinging Europe and Bo Stief have selected young musicians for the talent development orchestra PLAY! GROUND LIVE, touring Denmark each year, where the musicians play 12-15 concerts during a week around the country.
